Hi, I'm Natalie. Let's get you sorted.
I've always been someone who likes things in order. Organising, planning, seeing how things should be — it's just how my mind works. Friends and family have always come to me when something needs sorting out or planning, and I genuinely love it. It's not something I ever had to think about, it's just who I am.
For years though, being organised didn't mean I was giving myself time. I was busy being busy - a full-on corporate job, a house that seemed to fill up almost by itself, and a to-do list that never quite got done. New gadgets promising to make life easier. Things collected along the way that I was convinced I needed. When they were no longer needed, into the loft they went, in crates and vacuum bags, never to be seen again. Or they'd end up in pretty storage containers dotted around the house — out of sight, looking organised, without actually tackling what I was holding onto.
Then last year, something stopped me in my tracks. I found myself in hospital following emergency surgery and during that month (after the medication had worn off!), lying in a ward with far too much time to think, my mind kept drifting to the same place: my affairs.
In many ways, I was lucky. I was organised. I had a will. My files at home were mostly in order. But as the person who organises everything in our household — the accounts, the passwords, the subscriptions, I started to realise the gaps. My online accounts. My investment apps. If I hadn't woken up, how would my loved ones have known where to start? It was that thought, lying in a hospital bed, that sparked the idea for the very first sorted by nat planner.
During my recovery suddenly I had something I hadn't had in years: space to think. Space to get properly organised. Space to tackle the loft, the storage boxes, and the things I'd been holding onto far too long. And the time to actually build what I'd been sketching out in that hospital ward.
I started with my own household folder — a complete record of everything that matters, covering every area of our lives. Then I turned it into a planner and I’ve shared it, so you can get your affairs in order too.
I also continued my sorting journey and getting rid of the clutter. Over 300 sales across Vinted, eBay and Facebook Marketplace later — and more than a few charity donations, tip runs and recycling bins along the way — my husband and I have made some impressive savings and freed up an enormous amount of space. Five star reviews, a lot of lessons learned, and very much still decluttering. I still have some way to go, but things are feeling so much more in control.
That's where my free Selling Guide comes from: real experience, honestly shared from the lessons I’ve learned along the way.
I’ve also learned the hard way about making sure that you have the right insurance cover in place - my surgery happened overseas when I was on holiday, which taught me a few things, but we’ve also been burgled in the past, so making sure you have the right contents insurance is so very important when these unexpected things happen.
My guides should be used in conjunction with conversations with your loved ones and professional advice - they are just that, a guide to help you start looking at your affairs and ask more questions, they are not intended as a substitute for legal advice.
Getting your affairs in order isn't about being morbid. It's about love. It's about making sure the people you care about most aren't left searching for documents, guessing at your wishes, or making decisions they're not sure you'd have wanted — at the hardest moment of their lives. It's also about giving yourself the time and space to create what you want, and let go of the things that are no longer serving you.
Thank you for being here. Let's get you sorted.
